What is a modern witch?

A modern witch is someone who consciously and intentionally practises magic or paganism. This may include the celebration of pagan festivals, the practice of rituals, meditation, divination and the use of medicinal plants and other spiritual tools. Modern witchcraft can be practised alone or in groups, and can be influenced by many different traditions and beliefs. Modern witches are often women, but there are also many men who identify themselves as witches.

There are no particular signs that someone is a witch. On the other hand, witches generally have several things in common.

Witchcraft is first and foremost a spiritual practice, and this means that everyone can have their own approach and their own way of practising. Some people may feel drawn to magic and witchcraft for personal reasons, while others may be interested in the history and beliefs associated with witchcraft. If you are interested in witchcraft and would like to find out more, it may help to read books on the subject, take part in discussion groups or meet other people who are interested in witchcraft. This will help you to better understand whether witchcraft is something for you and whether you want to practise it.

It is difficult to say what modern witches have in common, as witchcraft is a very personal and individual practice. Modern witches may have very different beliefs, practices and interests. However, there are a few traits that may be common to some modern witches:

  • An interest in nature and plants: many modern witches are very connected to nature and often use medicinal plants and essential oils in their rituals and magical practices.

  • A desire for personal fulfilment: witchcraft can be a way for some people to discover and develop their own abilities and find meaning in their lives.

  • A spiritual commitment: for some modern witches, witchcraft is a spiritual practice that enables them to connect with a higher power or spiritual entities.

  • Developed hypersensitivity.

  • Good intuition.

Some magical practices;

  • The practice of elemental magic: working with the elements of earth, air, fire and water to create energy and influence events.

  • Moon magic: using the energy of the moon and its different phases to influence rituals and spells.

  • Protection magic: using different techniques to protect yourself from negative energies or to protect others.

  • Using plants and essential oils: using medicinal plants and essential oils for their magical and spiritual properties.

  • Use of crystals and precious stones: use of crystals and precious stones for their energy and healing properties.

  • Communicating with spirits: some witches communicate with spirits or spiritual entities.

Modern witchcraft is influenced by many different traditions and beliefs, so there are many different types of magic practised by witches. Here are a few examples of common types of witchcraft magic:

  • Wicca: this is a pagan religion of the Neopagan movement that focuses on the celebration of nature and harmony with the forces of life. Wiccans often practise ritual magic and celebrate pagan festivals such as the summer and winter solstices.

  • Natural witchcraft: this approach to witchcraft emphasises the use of medicinal plants, crystals and precious stones, and the connection to nature and the elements.

  • Egyptian witchcraft: this form of witchcraft is inspired by ancient Egyptian beliefs and practices, such as the use of Egyptian symbols and divinities in rituals and spells.

  • Voodoo witchcraft: this Afro-Caribbean witchcraft tradition emphasises the use of rituals, spells and trance to connect with spirits and spiritual forces.

  • Celtic witchcraft: this form of witchcraft is inspired by the beliefs and practices of the Celtic peoples, such as the use of Celtic symbols and deities in rituals and spells.

  • Shamanic sorcery: this form of sorcery is inspired by the beliefs and practices of shamans from different cultures, such as the use of trance and spiritual journeys to connect with other dimensions and spirits.

What about intuitive sorcery?

Intuitive witchcraft is an approach to witchcraft that focuses on using one's intuition and extrasensory perceptions to practise magic. Intuitive witches can use a variety of techniques, such as meditation, visualisation and connection to the energies of plants and crystals, to connect with their inner power and manifest their wishes. Intuitive witchcraft can be practised independently or in combination with other types of magic.Intuitive witches can be very connected to their emotions and their bodies, and they can use this connection to understand and interpret messages from their intuition. They can also use their intuition to guide their magical practice and to make important decisions. Intuitive witchcraft can be a very personal and intimate way of practising magic, and each intuitive witch has her own way of working with her intuition and extrasensory perceptions.

The important thing is to discover your true nature and practise according to your own beliefs. Use what makes you tick to develop your magical practice!
